    Thanks for this write up. I have installed Gallerycms and gave it a shot. The install was easy. The important thing to note is it lacks a built in front end to display the images. The plugin “Galleria”(offered on Gallerycms website) is a front end application/plugin to do this. It is very easy with local images on the server, but trying to use a XML or JSON array feed was beyond my understanding. I also attempted to upload via my Android phone and was unable to do so. So while I learned some new things and I liked the “Galleria” themes Gallerycms was a “fail” for me.
    I have however glanced at the piwigo.org site and that looks very much like what I need. I think I am going to give it a shot.
